Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)

Definition

A ratio measuring data center electricity efficiency. A PUE of 1.2 means that for every watt powering servers, another 0.2 watts (20%) goes to cooling and overhead. Aurora, Illinois, requires new data centers to meet a PUE of 1.2 or lower.
